DFMI Supports Animation
The growth and development of animation in Africa is one of the key forces for change in the film industry.
Animation serves as a powerful tool for cultural expression and storytelling, allowing African creators to convey their unique narratives, traditions, and perspectives to a global audience. This contributes to the preservation and celebration of diverse African cultures.
The animation industry has significant economic potential, providing employment opportunities and fostering entrepreneurship within the continent. As the sector expands, it can attract investments, create jobs, and contribute to the overall economic development of African countries.
The Durban FilmMart Institute has identified the significant growth of animation in the continent and have therefore identified areas in which the DFMI could add value – creating visibility for animation projects globally, attracting investment into the sector by connecting animators with key decision makers, providing platforms for skills development and partnering and connecting with stakeholders in the industry to strengthen the impact of animation on the continent.
